Meet Mapu, Operations Manager for GKD.

Mapu brings over 24 years experience working on the tools working alongside project managers, architects, and other trades on site. During this time he has gained in-depth knowledge of the painting and decorating trade across residential and commercial projects.

His favourite part of working in the GKD team is “Sharing my knowledge and experiences to grow GKD ensuring the outcomes for all clients includes quality with integrity.”

As you can imagine with that many years under his belt, Mapu has many a painters story. His favourite is when his trade and experience took him to Fiji and Tonga for rebuild projects. He comments “The relationships gained with the locals has always been a highlight especially as I was given an opportunity to help the livelihoods of our Pacific brothers and sisters.”

Outside work, Mapu loves spending time with his family, “namely my children and helping them succeed.” He notes “there is no better satisfaction in life.” When he’s not on the tools, you might also find him on the guitar, reading, or travelling with his wife. He once enjoyed a trip to India, “Nothing prepares you or opens your eyes to new wonders of the world. As a guest to a Punjabi wedding I felt more like family. Indians are the most hospitable people I’ve ever known away from home. They treated me like a god.”
