With over 40 years of experience in the construction and trade industry, we wanted to do things differently. Through speaking with other industry professionals and reflecting on our experiences in past jobs, we know how much it means to be valued at work. Providing growth, development, and leadership opportunities is something we were adamant we wanted to incorporate into our business. Because, investing in our people means we will grow the best people, and ultimately, produce the best work. It’s simple.  

Our mission is to be Auckland’s Favourite Painters and Decorators. To do so, we are striving to be leaders in quality finishes, all while empowering our team to be their best selves. We believe leaders are homegrown, so investing in our peoples growth and development throughout their career means they can step up and perform at their best.  

We offer a range of services at GKD so giving our team a taste of everything, equips them with double, even triple the skillset they came to us with! Whether it be plastering, staining, exterior, interior, residential, or commercial work our team are a bunch of well-rounded painters and decorators.  

A core value of ours is leadership. To bring the best out of our team we aim to care, to empower, and to lead by example. Demonstrating what a good leader looks like paves the way for what others aspire to and eventually follow suit. Developing leadership skills in our business was a priority because they can take you many places professionally and personally. At the end of the day, our job as business owners and leaders is to make a difference in our work and the in the lives of the people we interact with.  

For us, valuing our people means being dedicated to their continuous development and giving them the opportunity to step up and perform. In our first few months we have raised a team of hardworking, top-notch painters and decorators who are committed to providing only the best quality for our clients. We wanted to showcase them here because they are at the forefront of what we do!  

We listen, turn up when we say we will, and deliver on all the small details because that’s what quality means to us. This type of service doesn’t magically happen, in our opinion, we owe it to the continuous development and leadership in our team. It takes more than just a promise to deliver quality service, the entire team must live by these standards. Without the full commitment of management as well as the team on the ground we couldn’t produce the quality projects we do.
